Purchase of goods from the world market is specifically granted through the Mercantile Skill. I believe that the market prices were removed as only characters with the appropriate skill (and level, depending on quality) would have access to that information. It is my understanding that the information still exists, but will be restricted in a similar way in which the Black Market prices are for Streetwise.
A character without the Mercantile skill needing to purchase goods would need to broker either through a PC or NPC with the appropriate skill.
