Level 10 of the Ranged Weapon Skill grants
Can you clarify this? Based on my reading of the combat section, basic attacks such as throwing an arrow do not innately require an Energy point, so I'm curious as to how this would differ from a person at Level 1 Ranged Weapons simply standing still and throwing arrows (Other than the obvious difference in Brutality.)
Thanks!

It did indeed get buried! We did not word this well in the rulebook and we will clarify it there, but first we will here!
You can choose from one of the abilities you have from the Ranged Weapon Tier that does expend energy (True Strike, Piercing, Pin), and when you use the energy to use Volley and plant your foot, you can now use one of those until you lift your foot without expending energy.
You can only use one, if you wish to switch from Piercing to Pin, you must use another energy to replant Volley.
Hope that is helpful!

True Strike, Pin, and Piercing all normally require 1 Energy to use, correct? So when spending one energy for a Volley, we can then use one of the above skills an unlimited number of times as long as the foot does not move, correct? Very nice!
though on second thought - sounds perhaps OP: "True Strike 12, True Strike 12, True Strike 12, etc...." What is the range of that Volley of True Strikes that do not require actually throwing a packet? (I'm hoping that "packet reach" is the distance someone can accurately throw, not huck long-distance; so maybe 20' or 25'?)
I know that dodge is the primary defense against missiles. Can someone wielding a shield use Block to protect against an arrow? If so, can they use that to protect the person next to them from arrows if they have level 10 in Defense ("may use defenses for another within weapon's reach").

An archer would use 2 energy (1 for Volley and 1 for the special effect) You may only have one special effect working with Volley. We are currently working with approximately 50 feet LOS. Yes, you may Block an arrow, even True Strike. If you have the Defense ability, you may do that for another within your weapon reach.

Jimmy, using Block for another is only if you have Level 10 in Defense correct?

Jimmy, using Block for another is only if you have Level 10 in Defense correct? Only if it is one of the abilities gained with the level purchased. Correct.

You wrote, "yes you can block an arrow..." - is that with shield only, or weapon or shield?
Does Cheap Trick work with Ranged Weapons and Volley?
The Pierce skill learned in Subterfuge applies to any pointed weapon (bow or melee). Does the Pierce skill learned in Ranged Weapons apply to any known ranged weapon and any known pointy melee weapons?

You may block if you have the ability block, the energy to power it, and either a shield or weapon if you are proficient in those items are in hand. Cheap Trick does work with Ranged Weapons and Volley. No, Ranged Weapon pierce is only usable with ranged weapons.

can I use any colored packets for arrows? or are you using actual bows and arrows with foam tips?
What are the rules regarding the bow or crossbow being struck by a melee weapon? Can one consciously block a melee weapon with the bow? Can one use the Block skill with one's bow? Does the bow being hit mean the bowstring is broken and needs an X-count to restring?
Thanks!
