Happy Tuesday! As you all know, the event is coming up with lightning speed and we're so utterly excited! As this is the first time using this site, we're going to go in depth with what we expect and what you might want to bring and know. Firstly, a reminder: Write-Ups will be due at 11:59pm on Wednesday, August 15th, 2018. The area has latrines, no running water in the bathrooms. The beds are twin, if not 'dorm' twin, so they are relatively small. The terrian is jagged and high uphill and high downhill, just preparing everyone, our thighs are going to look great! You will be assigned a cabin when you come to camp by staff, of course you can offer requests but for the first time there we will be assigning for ease! Please bring... - Hand Sanitizer/Baby Wipes/Ways to keep your hygiene up - Linens (Sleeping bags are probably the easiest, but we do have mattresses as if you wish to go full on Royal Linens, that's up to you.) - Towels (You never know the weather, always good to have some handy. We also might have showers, so toiletries if you are a LARP shower-er.) - Your LARP gear (Clearly.) - Weather appropriate clothes (We will be attempting to watch the weather and advise what the news says closer to the event, but as Colorado weather goes, we have no idea if it will work out in our favour or not. I'd bring very warm to very cool clothes - just as you would camping.) - Drinking Water (Stay hydrated and make sure you have enough for yourself!) - Food (If you plan on not eating at the tavern or enjoy personal snacks.) - Cash (The event is $40 not counting food if you are PCing.) - Anything you would bring on your camping trips (except your tent. We do not know if there is heating or cooling so bring what you would in a tent.) The Big Rules: - There can be no drinking, smoking cigarettes, nor doing any recreational drug on or near site. If it is done on or near site it will risk us fully losing privileges to this site and sites attached to it and that would bum us greatly we know our players and us have been aching for a site to do events. If you must do those things, please drive or walk fully off or near site (which means at eye, smell or hearing range) to do those. Preferably into town. The menu is being prepped as we speak and the prices of such will be place on here when we have them. Here is a link to the NPC Sign up Shift Log. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12OniJzzQAcrhnyEpvV3m4hnA4JVuoTaExQfHkUPB8l8/edit?usp=sharing If you are interested in being an NPC, please sign up for a shift, preferably no more than 2 people to a time. Please realize that that time can be filled with non-stop action and fighting all the way to doing nothing for all three hours. Please do not go into these times with an expectation. We won't be changing up the game because you're bored of being an NPC, you can feel free not to sign up if you see that going that way! Please also realize that if you choose an very early or very late, we do expect you to work that time, so if you like continuous sleep, might want to choose the more mid-day ones. Please keep up to date on this thread as we will be posting any new information we get. Please also feel free to post any questions here!

The terrian is jagged and high uphill and high downhill, just preparing everyone, our thighs are going to look great! - I think you mean terrain and steep versus high..though if it's steep uphill, it has to be steep downhill.
You will be assigned a cabin when you come to camp by staff, of course you can offer requests but for the first time there we will be assigning for ease! - Shouldn't that be an In-game decision made by the characters? If forced by OOG choices, it puts IG characters at risk from nefarious characters they wouldn't sleep next to and/or doesn't allow the midnight sudden attack from a false ally.

I did mean those.
I am happy to make it an IG decision - but we have no place for you to set your things until then, so if people wish to wait until everyone is there to make decisions that's fine but your gear and whatnot will be exposed to the elements. You can also do it in game between emails if you wish, but we limit you to three cabins when making those decisions as we do not know if NPC camp will take one or two cabins. The cabins sleep 8 in a cabin if that helps.
The reason why we're relatively assigning cabins is due to the fact that there is OOG conditions that we take into account first and foremost. For the most part we will be allowing people to choose who they're sleeping with, hence the "of course you can offer requests" portion, but we reserve the right to move around if a condition approaches (such as I don't need three people stating they would rather want a cabin to themselves - that's nice and all but no feasible.)
But people are more then welcome to take a sleeping bag and sleep outside if none of the cabins are of suitable conditions for their characters. But your character have no claim to a cabin as you are on someone else's land, nor can we allow tents on site.
If you have anymore questions, please let us know!

I think it all can be handled IG. If blood thirsty Sage rolls into town before others and tosses her stuff in a cabin and says it's hers..then I guess the other characters accept that or handle it..IG. I'm a big proponent for letting IG handle itself without OOG forcing it. How freaking awesome would it be for blood thirsty Sage to rip out back-talking Gwengwens tongue and the grand noble Bolos heart, just because they tried to stay in her cabin??

The assigning thing does make sense like going to a hotel and getting assigned a room.. I'm sure everyone will get what they need!

Not sure why being assigned a sleeping spot OOC changes anything. Seems pretty obvious Plot is just trying to ensure everyone has a spot where they can sleep. Just handle IC, do what your character would do.

A look into the Hardcore.
I've always been an extremist which most of you know as you are my friends and family.
It took my friend a while to get me to go out to a LARP. I'd gamed for years but arrogance, trust, and the idea that it was silly held me back. I finally agreed and loved it.
I started in NERO Dallas/Fort Worth in 1994. Within three events I was running that chapter. I had a group of people around me (about 3-5) that loved my vision and drive and helped me to accomplish it. A while later, my ex-wife and I split and I found it difficult to be around her as well as a group that I felt ashamed in so I decided to move back to Colorado.
A few friends and I took a roadtrip out to see Ford and I got my own Chapter: NERO Colorado.
I loved NERO. Primarily because I had no other reference to LARP and I loved LARP but I was missing much in the NERO system. Even at the beginning I didn't like the lack of religion. I didn't care for the lack of end game or the way that character building such as Other Craftsman Skills were throw away in that they only gave you coin. It quickly became apparent that the system was a combat system and that the role-playing aspect of it was encouraged but not the focus.
So, I changed it. I made Nature magic AND Descration magic (which no one talks about!), incorporated a non-religious "religion" and started implementing a new chapter variation on abilities and powers that made end game more enjoyable.
But I was fairly fresh out of the military and just embracing my new Asatru faith and full of testosterone and so were the core high school group that came out. So we were insane. We figured if it's too hardcore, you're too old. We did shit that should have killed or at the least maimed us and there WERE a few hospital visits.
But that's what we did. Physical contact rule, throw it out. Rulebook, throw it out. Pretty much do it or shut up. This didn't lead to sexual harrassment or really any kind of harrassment but looking back, it was careless and could have really ended poorly. It didn't and I'm grateful for the days.
All of this is preface to say that we had a motto that I'm sure many of you have heard from me. "Take it in game." Didn't matter what it was, I directed everyone to take it in game. Unless it was done offsite and it was clear that it was between players, the game system was the ultimate judge and jury of all actions.
The only people in this game with us that were there are Suzanne and Kris. Tim was in at the end of my reign and beginning of Suzanne's so he will have seen some of it if not heard stories but it was our mantra. Suzanne's reign was much more politically and safety oriented but she, too, was part of Hardcore LARP so kept a lot of our key ideals.
He recently argued a point about assigning cabins. I don't think he argued it properly nor do I completely agree with his stance but I DO understand it. And ultimately, his stated point is that he's holding true to the principles which I, myself, taught him. "Everything is handled in game."
And that's mostly what I wanted to say. Krike is old. lol He comes from a different breed of LARPers which I fostered and pretty much raised. Nikki's generation is a lot more into feelings and how things affect people and everything being fair. Ultimately, I agree with that but it's hard to change mind sets.
So I just wanted to post to give context to what Krike is saying.
Thanks for reading and happy LARPing all!
